Lake County, located in central California, maintained Big Canyon Road—a 4-mile unpaved, high-traffic route used by residents, tourists, and heavy trucks. The clay-based road suffered from ruts, dust, washboarding, and constant wear due to weather and traffic. To address these issues and reduce long-term maintenance, Lake County used Perma-Zyme to treat the native soil. The application locked in existing surface material, improved strength and durability, and created a smooth, stable driving surface that has remained in excellent condition for over a decade—even withstanding heavy traffic and wildfire exposure.
