Harva-Zyme FAQs
-
How does Harva-Zyme work?
Harva-Zyme contains enzymes, which are naturally occurring proteins that cause chemical reactions to start or speed up. In this case, the enzymes encourage the microbes in the soil to work faster so they can improve soil quality, oxygenation, and nutrient content.

How do I apply Harva-Zyme?
You can apply Harva-Zyme through your regular irrigation system, spray it onto your soil topically, or till it into the soil early in the season. Just be sure to follow the usage rates in the Harva-Zyme Tech Specs.
-
How often should I apply Harva-Zyme?
We typically recommend applying Harva-Zyme twice a year: once at the start of the growing season and again mid-season.
-
What types of plants can I use Harva-Zyme on?
You can use Harva-Zyme on any soil-based crop, regardless of your soil type. Our customers use it on a variety of plants, including:
• Alfalfa
• Nut trees
• Onions
• Potatoes
• Sugar beets
• Vineyards
In addition to commercial crops, Harva-Zyme also works well for lawns, gardens, and golf courses.
-
Can I use Harva-Zyme with fertilizer?
Not exactly. You can still fertilize your fields; you just shouldn’t use Harva-Zyme and fertilizer together. That’s because Harva-Zyme helps plants absorb soil nutrients—including fertilizer—so applying the two products together may increase the risk of plants burning. We recommend waiting at least two weeks between applications.
-
Can I use Harva-Zyme with pesticides?
In most cases, yes. You can use Harva-Zyme with pesticides. In fact, some customers have even reported that insects they sprayed with Harva-Zyme died because the enzymes disrupted their digestive systems.
-
Should I irrigate right after using Harva-Zyme?
When you apply Harva-Zyme topically or till it into the soil, we recommend irrigating as soon as possible so you can start enjoying its benefits right away. However, some dry land applications did not receive irrigation or rain for several months. The Harva-Zyme remained in the soil until it rained; then, the soil saw the same benefits as irrigated applications.

Can I get any case studies about Harva-Zyme?
Yes! We have three case studies of Harva-Zyme’s effects on potato, onion, and alfalfa crops. Just ask a Substrata rep, and we’ll send you any or all of these case studies.
