Mariposa County, located in central California, maintained Pine Drive—a ¾-mile unpaved road serving residential traffic, trucks, and horse trailers. The road’s steep grade and sharp turn made it prone to potholes, washboarding, and heavy dust, especially during dry summer conditions. To reduce ongoing maintenance and improve performance, Mariposa County treated the road with Perma-Zyme. The application strengthened the native silt-based soil, reduced dust, and created a more durable surface, significantly decreasing washboarding and the need for frequent grading while providing a more reliable road for residents.
